Irene Kane, Bay Area Wedding Officiant

Non-Denominational & Same Sex Marriages

From Marriage Commissioner to Wedding Officiant

A lifelong interest in ritual and celebration led me to become a Deputy Marriage Commissioner at San Francisco City Hall in 2000. Under the historic rotunda I performed weekly ceremonies for weddings and domestic unions. Prior to this time, I marked important passages in people’s lives as a photographer.

I am a certified Life Cycle Celebrant and completed training with the Celebrant Foundation and Institute in Montclair, N.J. I hold a Master’s Degree from San Francisco State University and am legally certified to perform wedding ceremonies in California. I work in a relaxed, yet professional manner, with the humor and flexibility of a seasoned parent. My listening and writing skills allow me to establish trust, build rapport and create a memorable ceremony from a non-denominational perspective.

It is always my goal to make the day as special as possible, creating the best memories for the couple. Marriage in the Bay Area can be such a unique experience, which is why it is so important to cater my services to the personalities of the people involved. I pride myself off of working with a diverse group of men and women, as it has built me a strong foundation of experience which has helped improve my abilities over the years. I would love to hear from you about your wedding plans. Give me a call or send me an email!
